Wallethub conducted a study to find which were the best places specifically to raise a family in the state. As most of us here in the Pacific Northwest already know, Washington is all-around a great place to live considering that there's a healthy job market, high educational attainment, and a natural environment that promotes an active lifestyle. Not to mention, Washingtonians earn the 12th highest per-capita personal income in the U.S. and experienced the fourth highest growth in income between 2015 and 2016.
The indicators used in selecting the top cities were ranked across four categories: Family Life & Fun, Education, Health & Safety, Affordability and Socioeconomics and looked at things like median family income – to quality of school districts – to housing affordability.
But! They went ahead and rated the Top 111 of Washington's biggest cities to find which were the best to raise a family anyways.
Since 111 is a huge list to try and go through, here are the Top 10:
- West Richland
- Sammamish
- Snoqualmie
- Klahanie (Note: Klahanie has now been annexed into Sammamish)
- Bainbridge Island
- Woodinville
- Richland
- Redmond
- Maple Valley
- New Castle
