SAMMAMISH, Wash. - An underground bunker apparently built by a prolific criminal who had been on the run for five years was found Tuesday morning near Lake Sammamish by a joint team made up of local and federal law enforcement personnel.
The FBI released the information below about a bunker they found on a hillside near the East Lake Sammamish Parkway 7-11 convenience store:
Shortly after 10 am on Tuesday, March 10, a joint investigative team located an underground bunker allegedly used by a convicted bank robber. The bunker was discovered through investigation of Bradley Steven Robinett, who pled guilty in January to federal charges of escape, being a felon in possession of a firearm and interstate transportation of a stolen vehicle.
The FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) developed information during the investigation that suggested Robinett had buried a cache of materials related to his crimes near Lake Sammamish in Sammamish, Washington. Together with the ATF, Sammamish Police Department, King County Sheriff’s Office, and Washington State Patrol, the FBI’s Evidence Response Team explored an area of King County wetlands behind a condominium development on Lake Sammamish. They uncovered the bunker and removed more than a dozen large storage containers for further evidence processing.
