Just taking a moment to be a proud Dad on today’s blog. Tomorrow morning my son Keenan will be getting up around 3:30 AM and heading with the rest of the Eastside Catholic Varsity Football Team to travel down to San Diego for the 2015 Honor Bowl. While they will be missing a few days of school each one of them are expected and required to keep up on their studies and homework while traveling, along with having daily practices in advance of the game.
It’s been great to see Keenan mature into such a great young man, maintain good grades, and excel at a sport he loves so much. While keeping an A-B grade point average last year, the freshman team he played on went undefeated while last year’s varsity team won the State 3A Championship (We beat Bellevue!) and is the Pre-Season State #1.
TV INFORMATION: The games will be aired LIVE in H/D throughout the Time Warner Cable Sportsnet footprint in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Diego and Hawaii.
For those living in Seattle, WA. ROOT NW has agreed to air on tape delay at 9/4 at 10:30pm following the Mariners game that evening. The game will re-air a second time on ROOT on 9/7 at 10:30pm PT as well.
For those in national areas (including Seattle) can watch the games LIVE! If they are DirecTV sports tier subscribers. If you are one of these subscribers (can almost guarantee any sports restaurant will have this) you can watch all the Honor Bowl games LIVE (not tape delayed) nationwide on TWC SportsNet channel 691.
The coaches at the Honor Bowl have also asked us to please remind people that they are a fundraising benefit event. The mission of The Honor Bowl is to give back to those who have given everything for our freedom. They asked us to please inform fans if they don't plan on attending the games to please donate. If they can't buy a ticket, you can make a donation. This is much more than a football game for our student athletes, coaches and community. They will leave THE HONOR BOWL educated and changed.
From The Honor Bowl Website:
Thank you for visiting the Honor Group website. Our team thanks you on behalf of those active service men, women and all American military veterans around the globe. We also want to take this time to thank the many volunteers and countless people who have worked with us these past few years. If it were not for your selfless sacrifice we would not be where we are today.
Since 2010, the Honor Group continues to evolve. We wish to take this time to thank the many coaches, student athletes, and countless communities who have come together for a great CAUSE. What once started as a simple football event has evolved into marathons, school assembly Honor Tours, Golf tournaments, Evening of Honors and so much more. We cannot express enough what your help and support has meant to us.
The Honor Group supports the mindset of educating our communities regarding the needs of our military veterans. We do this by going into the schools of our community with exciting athletic competitions, educational school assembly events, and community outreach events. These events rise up awareness within our students and community’s regarding the sacrifices of our nation’s military veterans. We see hearts change, we see people grow with a new sense of patriotism, and mostly we see the student, community and military veterans bond. It is beautiful to see and we are so grateful to be a part of this CAUSE.
Over the past few years, the Honor Group has been blessed to earn the support of every single branch of our nation’s armed forces. We have even locked arms with great national support organizations such as the Veterans of Foreign Wars, The Ladies Auxiliary and the Blue Star Moms. These organizations have taught us and we look forward to continuing to move forward with them.
Thank you America, we are not stopping and continue to grow this CAUSE across our great nation. Thank you for supporting us and investing back to the Honor Group CAUSE
