In January, I had the opportunity to attend and become a member of the organization "100 Women Who Care GSV", what I did not know at the time was how much I would come to love what these ladies are all about! When my friend Adrianne invited me, it seemed like a simple outing with friends to support local organizations in the valley, all while having a glass of wine. As we walked in the door of Sigillo, we signed in, got name tags, grabbed a seat, a glass of Malbec and chatted with the ladies at our table. It wasn't long before the event was underway and there were two lovely ladies at the podium discussing what the night would hold... For me, this is when the magic began, it turns out that by the end of the night this room of ladies would all vote and then donate $10,000 to a charity or cause that we would like to support and the best part is that the chosen organization will leave with a check that night for $10,000!!! 100 women give $100 = $10,000 to an organization that betters our community. The formula is simple, see below for a full on breakdown!
Simple - Meet for 1 hour, 3 time a year, bring a check for $100 to each meeting.
Impactful - 100 women, meeting 3 x's per year donating $100 = $10,000.
Rewarding - Infuse a charity or nonprofit with a wad of cash.
Educational - Learn about organizations that impact and/or educate our community.
Collaborative - Hang out with people who aspire to make the world a better place.
Imagine - What an educational, environmental, arts, animal or healthcare organization could do with $10,000.
Last Tuesday, I attended my second meeting and it was so great to hear the guest speakers discuss why their organization should be the recipient of the $10,000. By the end of the night we all voted and the winner was the Mt. Si Senior Center. If you aren't familiar with the Mt. Si Senior Center, it is a place that helps seniors to age with grace and dignity, while providing a supportive, interactive community of friends and activities. Their network of services is as large as it is varied. Valley seniors enjoy health, social, recreational and educational programs. Along with access to our low-income housing options and the fabulous network of SVT (Snoqualmie Valley Transportation) routes with door-to-door service. The Senior Center is one of our valley’s true gems!!!
